Celtic Shields

At Medieval Armour, our Celtic shields are noteworthy based purely on design and detail alone. Many of our medieval era shields feature impressive Celtic designs emblazoned onto a traditional medieval shield. Some of our Celtic shields are fully functional shields, although because of their amazing designs, all of them are best-served as decorative shields. The Celts, as warriors, were particularly fond of round shields, and so many of these shields replicate that shape. They range in size, differing from that of a typical medieval shield to that of a buckler, which is smaller and more lightweight. They also range in design, as some feature classic Celtic designs like patterned Celtic knotwork and traditional Celtic imagery, while others feature different symbols that none-the-less represent the Celtic culture. Because of certain similarities, you'll also find a number of Scottish shields here, inspired by shields and shield-designs that are popular among highland warriors throughout history. The Celtic and Scottish Shields here at Medieval Armour are all impressive works that embody both design and function. A warrior could do no better than to carry one into battle, just as a collector could do no better than display one on their wall.
